Application Sales Engineer

Position Summary:
As Sales / Application Engineering, you will provide product design solutions for our customer’s noise control applications and provide quotations for our customer’s quote requests in compliance with the customer’s contract specifications and Company policies.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manage Assigned Request for Quotations (RFQ)/ Information (RFI)
    • Work with customers and internal team members to identify, develop and deliver value added, customer driven products and solutions
    • Provide sales support by acting as a liaison with customers (educating on product selection/use, providing feedback with regards to future contract status, questions or issues with quotations or Silencer Selection Software, etc.)
    • Prepare accurate and concise quotations and submittal drawings that are devised to reflect the customers’ requirements
    • Facilitate Quotation / Contract review Meetings as required on standard and non–standard quotes between Sales and the Value Stream (Manufacturing, Engineering, R & D, and Quality)
    • Follow up with customers to ensure the quotation is complete / accurate and future potential of the quote becoming an order
    • Obtain a balance between satisfying customer needs with that of the need to achieve company objectives
    • Manage assigned customer quotations (RFQ / RFI) under the supervision of the Sales Manager
    • Maintain accurate paperwork that communicates all project details and information to other departments
    • Gain familiarity with market needs and trends through customer calls, industry contacts
  • Customer Service
    • Assist customers with questions or issues they may have on quotations and Silencer Selection Software
    • Educate customers on products / applications on how, when and where our products should be used
    • Help customers understand their application, and determine which product will meet their needs
    • Meet with customers as required
  • Support for Department
    • Review of new orders and provide complete / accurate information on orders before they are submitted for processing
    • Work on assigned product improvement and design projects
    • Work in conjunction with department for overall improvement / development of products to increase sales and profitability
    • Other duties as required
Skills and Qualifications:
  • The ideal candidate would hold a degree in Architectural or Mechanical Engineering or a diploma in Engineering Building Design or Mechanical Technology
  • Minimum of 5 years of work related experience in HVAC design and product selection.
  • Excellent English communication skills: verbal, reading comprehension, writing, negotiating and listening  
  • Customer and results focused, eager to learn, positive attitude and commitment to continuous improvement
  • Hands on problem solver, engaged leader and team player with exceptional interpersonal skills and organizational skills  
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, MS Office, ERP Systems, COMSIL & FANSIL - (learning curve)
  • Must have good customer service skills in order to help maintain current customers and sales representatives  
  • Able to manage multiple Request for Quotes and Request for Information at one time to meet the customer’s needs
  • Have an understanding of manufacturing techniques and how the products are built  
  • Be able to develop an overall understanding of the products that the company manufactures and how they are used in job specific situations along with the flow of the Sales and Project Management Process
  • Must have an understanding of internal pricing techniques / margins / buyouts, etc. in order to quote jobs  
  • Work related experience and knowledge of industrial / commercial fans and noise control are definite assets
  • Understanding Quality Process (ISO Procedures)  
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles an asset
