Position to fill: Sales Manager
Industry Residential Furniture
Location: Woodbridge, Ontario (office based, but with up to 50% travel).
Salary range: To be determined depending on credentials and experience. There will be a Base + Incentive bonus. (NB: it’s more like $80k base + bonus than the double)
Company Description:
Our client is a renowned Canadian manufacturer of high end furniture for the residential market. They manufacture their furniture to order, which is sold to consumers through appropriately positioned retailers of all sizes (from large chains to specialized boutiques), in Canada, and across the US.
Their Sales Department is led by a VP of Sales, to who report a Canadian Sales Manager and a US Sales Manager. To these managers in turn report a team of around 30 regional salespeople who are either salaried or independent agents. The Canadian Sales Manager has too much work so they are seeking to split the position by hiring a second person who would manage a subset of the Canadian sales team, in Eastern Canada.
Job Description:
This position will report to the VP of Sales and will be responsible for:
Selling directly to large accounts (Retailers) mostly located in the GTA
Managing the 8 independent agents who cover territories across Canada.
Duties include:
- Target and grow key accounts
- Achieving the annual sales target by managing all sales to existing and prospective accounts - Building relationships with existing accounts and new business development to increase sales - Developing customer sales programs and promotions - Participating in trade shows and other events - Identifying new business opportunities within existing accounts and new markets - Performing product sales analysis - Monitoring customer, market and competitor activity - Conducting sales forecasting - Executing other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Successful experience in a similar role within a manufacturing company who makes products to order for the retail industry (furniture, fixtures, decoration, upholstery etc.), or within a furniture retail corporation.
Demonstrated sales, training, marketing and customer handling skills. Superior Sales Skills are essential and mandatory.
Fashion oriented, able to communicate concepts in this field.
Willing to travel as required by duties.
Flexible for occasional week end work (trade shows, conventions, etc).
Keys / Comments:
They prefer candidates who are currently working for a consumer (not office) furniture manufacturer like them, who has a sales team that needs to be managed, coached, trained etc. This is furniture sold to retailers, who will then sell it to consumers. They could also consider candidates working for wholesalers.
Alternatively, they will consider an aggressive yet trainable professional who would be interested in moving up from, for instance, a sales rep position
NB: They are seeking people with around 5 years of experience, 10 at most.
