Flooring Sales Professional

Winnipeg, MB

Reporting to the President, the Retail and Commercial Salesperson will plan and generate targeted sales. Your professional rapport is a key factor in representing the company
during and away from work hours. As part of the sales team, you will act as the liaison for customers, ensuring delivery of excellent service to exceed customer expectations from pre-sale to post-sale.


Qualifications
Education and Training:
o High school diploma required
o Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, and Excel)

Experience:
o 3 to 5 years of retail experience in Flooring industry (Required)
o 3 to 5 years of experience in Customer Service (Required)
o 3 to 5 years of experience in Sales (Required)
o Installation experience or knowledge of (Preferred)

Skills and Competencies:
o Solid knowledge of pros and cons of various flooring applications as well as remaining current with
technical skills

o The ability to develop an accurate professional quote
o Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a wide variety of person types
o A relationship builder with active listening skills, seeking to understand clients and co-workers in a
non-judgmental way

o Service oriented diplomacy and tact when interacting with clients
o A high level of relational respect and integrity when dealing with suppliers, customers, installers and co-workers
o Creative problem-solving skills

Deliverables and Responsibilities:
Product Administration & Knowledge/Showroom Etiquette
Responsibilities:
o Assist in keeping the showroom very neat and tidy, and assist in changing, moving and
assembling displays.

o Greet customers entering the showroom, gather information and direct them to the
area of the showroom that suits their requirements

o Ensure that samples are returned to their proper place at the end of the customer
consultation.

o Accurately document samples taken out of the showroom by customers.
o Assist home builder clients with their selections
o Keep price books and sample pricing up to date
o Ensure that all retail prices on displays are up to date.
o Research and attend training with our flooring reps to stay current with product
knowledge, specifications, industry trends and preferences, as well as ongoing
promotions of market competitors


Customer Service
Responsibilities:
o Answer phones whenever possible and return calls promptly
o Inform sales co-workers if you will be away from the phone and ensure that someone is
available to address phone calls and walk-in traffic

o Consistently offer a friendly, positive attitude
o Manage all customer complaints in a professional and non-confrontational manner
o Call your home builders weekly

Sales
Responsibilities:
o Arrive at appointments with customers on time
o Act as the primary contact for clients, providing product information and assisting with
product selections, according to requirements and preferences

o Maintain a positive relationship with clients, understanding the value of referrals and
networking for future sales

o Solidly capture each customer’s needs through qualified questioning
o Develop precise project expectations, updating clients on orders placed, the installation
schedule and process to ensure the optimal customer experience

o Follow through with what you have promised your customer
o Follow up with your customers to ensure all their questions are answered.
o Keep your vehicle clean and properly serviced

Sales Administration
Responsibilities
o Create a folder for new customers
o Prepare sales agreements
o Always collect 50% down payment on retail jobs
o Order from suppliers as per each project’s requirements
o Produce a confirmation sheet for each order placed or use a blank PO form to indicate an order has been placed with the correct pricing. This information is to be forwarded to on the day the order is placed
o Maintain a signed contract with every job, ensuring that pricing is easy to understand
o Have all carpet/vinyl cuts and detailed delivery information to warehouse personnel a minimum of 4 days prior to date required and more if possible. *
o Provide accurate measurements
o Create clear and precise work orders for every job
o Ensure that each supplier provides a confirmation of the order for accounting accuracy
o Prepare customer invoice details for accounting within 24 hours of job completion
o Schedule installs
o Be aware of builder cut-off dates to ensure timely payment
o Review work orders with installers
o Educate installers about the chain of command, They work for us, not the other way around
