Payroll Manager

is confidentially seeking a PAYROLL MANAGER for our  USA/CANADA client. This is an onsite role and can be based out of Barrie or Innisfil, ON.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to oversee and manage the company’s payroll operations. This individual will be responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely processing of payroll for multiple locations across Canada and the U.S. The Payroll Manager will also provide leadership, process improvements, and compliance oversight to support the company’s growing operations.

  • 100% on site role

  • Workforce is 700+ individuals

  • Postion reports to a Senior Payroll Manager, and supervises 1 Payroll Specialist.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Manage end-to-end payroll processing for salaried, hourly, and commission-based employees across multiple jurisdictions.

Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and state regulations, including tax filings, deductions, benefits, and wage reporting.

Maintain accurate employee payroll records and oversee payroll system updates, audits, and reconciliations.

Partner with HR and Finance teams to streamline payroll-related processes and reporting.

Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and time reporting with professionalism and accuracy.

Monitor and implement best practices in payroll management, ensuring continuous process improvements.

Oversee payroll year-end processes including T4, W-2, and other required reporting.

Manage vendor relationships for payroll software and third-party services.

Train and mentor payroll staff to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University degree plus payroll certification or designation preferred.

  • 5+ years of payroll management experience, preferably in a multi-site / cross-border environment. Must have experience working with different payroll schedules, union and many different provinces and states.

  • Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. payroll legislation and compliance requirements.

  • Proficiency with payroll systems and Microsoft Office Suite. UKG (Ultipro) would be ideal. Kronos experience would also be considered an asset.

  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.

  • Certified Payroll Professional (PCP, CPM, or CPP) designation considered an asset.
